KHARTOUM – The President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Gen. Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, received an official invitation from President Salva Kiir Mayardit, president of South Sudan to attend the opening session of peace negotiations between the government delegations and armed movements hosted by the Republic of South Sudan to be held in Juba on October 14. The invitation was delivered by Mr. Tout Galwak, head of the delegation of the State of South Sudan who held a joint meeting with the Supreme Peace Council headed by the president of the Sovereign Council, General Abdul Fattah Al Burhan at the Guest House today.
During the meeting, the Council was briefed on the arrangements and preparations of South Sudan to host the negotiations.
In a press statement following the meeting, the member of the Sovereign Council, Mohamed Hassan Al-Taishi said that the meeting assured the brotherly arrangements in the State of South Sudan for the start of negotiations on the 14th of October, as it was confirmed that all participants in the negotiation process were invited from international, regional and negotiating partners. He pointed out that the opening session of the negotiation will be opened by the President of the Sovereign Council, General Abdul Fattah Al Burhan and the President of the Republic of South Sudan, President Salva Kiir in the presence of a number of heads of friendly and brotherly countries.
