Khartoum - The President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, affirmed Sudan’s support for the IGAD to implement its plans and programs to achieve the aspirations of the countries and peoples of the continent towards peace, economic development, and stability.
Al-Burhan called during his meeting at the Republican Palace today, with the executive secretary of the IGAD organization, "Waraqa Jbeihu", in the presence of the Foreign Minister, Ms. Asma Abdullah, to raise the level of performance and improve it through the road map of the organization.
The executive secretary of the organization explained that "the meeting discussed many important issues in the political, economic, peace and ways to achieve them, considering the organization's pioneering role in developing the countries of the region and the progress of its people. Jubeiho confirmed the Sudanese leadership of the organization and the efforts of reforms to achieve its goals.
"Our paper" indicated that the current session of the Presidency of Sudan will implement all previous agreements and present many new proposals for the next session, and the IGAD Secretary expressed his hope that the IGAD countries will follow the example of Sudan in supporting IGAD. Stressing his confidence in Sudan’s leadership of the organization, with its accumulated experiences in the fields of peace and economy, which contributes to achieving the goals and aspirations of the organization.
