KHARTOUM - The head of the Transitional Military Council, the head of the European Union delegation in Khartoum, The meeting dealt with the current political situation in the country and the negotiation process between the Council and the political forces.
Ambassador Michel said in a press statement that the meeting dealt with the process of dialogue between the military council and political forces on arrangements for the transitional period and the formation of the civil government, adding that his meeting with the president of the council was clear and frank.
Michel said that the European Union supports the mediation of the African Union and the efforts of Ethiopia to facilitate the negotiations between the Sudanese parties, indicating that the European Union has maintained continuous contact with the Sudanese political forces, especially the forces of freedom and change, noting that the European Union takes the current situation in Sudan.
Ambassador Michel said that the European Union encourages all Sudanese parties to reach a settlement that puts Sudan on the path of peace, unity, democracy and prosperity.
Michel expressed the hope that the parties would start resuming the dialogue after it stopped following the events of June 3 and create the environment that allows quick access to the formation of an agreed civilian-led government.
On the events of the sit-in, Michel said that the council president explained that the council did not intend to break the sit-in, but there were parties intervened and that there are transparent and credible investigations being conducted in this regard.
