Deputy Chairman of the Political Committee of the Military Council Meets the German Envoy

KHARTOUM - Deputy Chairman of the Political Committee of the Transitional Military Council, Lt. Gen. Yasir Al-Atta, met at the Republican Palace today with the German envoy, Ambassador Philippe Ackerman, Director General of the Department of Africa, Latin America, the Near East and the Middle East at the German Foreign Ministry. The meeting discussed the development of situation in the country after the signature of the constitutional declaration between the Military Council and Forces of Freedom and Change last week.

The German envoy said that his country welcomed the agreement between the Sudanese parties and their support to Sudan in the political, economic and constitutional fields. Germany will continue to support the peace process in Sudan and help it overcome economic challenges, he said.

 The German envoy pointed out that his country has been closely following the developments in Sudan, praising the wisdom of the Sudanese people, through which they were able to reach a settlement that ended the differences and resulted with the signing of the political and constitutional declarations, considering that this is an important step in the right way to the future.

The German envoy expressed his optimism about the success of the agreement reached by the Military Council and the Forces of Freedom and Change in building a better future for Sudan.
